Two bottles, dry formulas, wet formulas, mixing and dropping-we know, it seems confusing. Don’t worry, we got your back! Our brightening ampoule delivers some seriously fresh and concentrated power to your skin thanks to the separation of ingredients.
Quick science lesson! Vitamin C (or ascorbic acid to the chemistry world) is too harsh and acidic to be applied to the skin on its own, which is why experts (and The Greenery Lab!) warn people about DIY skin care remedies involving putting pure lemon or citrus juice on the skin. You’d be doing much more harm than good by breaking down healthy layers of the skin resulting in more or even worse damage! Because it is an acid, when vitamin C is neutralized to safe levels for application, it oxidizes rapidly, or takes in extra oxygen, and loses effectiveness. Oxidized formulas will change color or smell, and appear a much darker brown-when that happens, you know it’s time to throw it out! That’s why you’ll only see formulas with this ingredient in dark colored bottles with controlled applicators (like pumps or droppers), to minimize exposure to heat, sunlight, and air which speed up the rate of this process. By separating the powdered ascorbic acid, Application 1, from the base formula, Application 2, in our Dual Mixed Brightening Ampoule there is virtually no risk of oxidation meaning you get the purest, most potent version of vitamin C available.
That’s great to know, right? Only if you know how to use it! Super simple, take Application 1 and shake the bottle gently into the palm of your hand to dispense the powder. We recommend, maximum, a small pea-sized amount-remember, it’s powerful! Then, mix 2-3 drops of Application 2 with the powder, mix with a fingertip, and pat into skin. Use after cleansing and toner, and befores serums as a booster or treatment 2-4 times a week depending on your skin sensitivity and condition. Not so confusing anymore, right?
